1. In 2005, The Department of Health and Human Services stated in their published report overweight employees have been costing our country close to $117 billion dollars per year in related health care costs.
2. The 30-49 year age group shows the fastest rise in disability claims fueled by the obesity epidemic in this country.
3. The Centers for Disease and Control and Prevention (CDC) states, being overweight is known to raise the risk for many diseases including type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure and cholesterol, coronary heart disease, congestive heart failure and strokes.
4. The CDC states physical inactivity contributes to both poor mental and physical health and is responsible for more than 200,000 deaths per year.  Nearly 80% of overweight people have one or more of the following; diabetes, high blood pressure and cholesterol and /or coronary heart disease.
5. The CDC suggests as employees become more overweight so does employers health care costs by 77% compared to employees with a normal body weight.
6. It has been reported that wellness programs are being offered by more than 80% of worksites to prevent employees from getting overweight at work cutting down on illness and disease.  
7. FedEx realized a positive Return On Investment (ROI) in its fitness program, averaging a decrease of $3.15 in health care costs per month per participant.
8. Johnson & Johnson published results of their positive ROI.  It showed risk reduction savings of $390 per year per employee.
9. Eastman Chemical had similar finding with their health care claims.  Participants in the wellness programs lifestyle claims increased only 14% compared to non-participants rose 48% over five years.
10. An automotive manufacturer reduced new hire injuries by 72% saving millions of dollars.
